“Mooi hoe zo'n groep individuen in één week tijd tot geweldige hoogte kan komen. Ik heb genoten van iedere seconde.”
Angelique

A full week of Japanese drumming in the mountains near Valencia. The mountain is your playground and the drums want your attention! For a week you deepen your understanding and train key techniques. Discover what your body can do and build, together with the group, a sound you can't yet imagine! We give direction; you do the work. Play and get stuck in! Then cool down, eat, and pick up again tomorrow.

A week of Japanese drumming in the mountains of Valencia. You work on technique, movement, sound and ensemble playing, with exercises that fit your level. Sometimes the notes are simple, precisely so you can discover what is happening in your playing. You play a lot, you get guidance and you do the work yourself. Afterwards there is time for good food, a dip in the pool and rest at our off-grid glamping in the middle of the wild nature. The VTE team takes care of everything around your stay. TAIKO. ALL IN.
Taiko Instructor

Teaching the craft. Practising it every day.
Erwin learned the taiko craft from players of KODŌ and stood with Circle Percussion on stages all over the world. Now he shares his experience in the mountains of Valencia. He teaches on taikos and uses equally clarifying and funny metaphors. He looks at your playing, at the person behind the player and at what the group needs. Japanese drumming is a craft. Playing freely is the goal. You get the directions… the work you do yourself!
Drums for the mountain
Sun, rain, wind, sand and dust: in Valencia you get it all, often in abundance. Over time, original wooden taiko with natural skins can struggle with those conditions. In the Netherlands we have a studio full of Asano drums, but especially for VTE, Erwin built robust, weather-resistant taiko. They sound fantastic and easily withstand the elements you can expect in the mountains. So we do not have to carry them around all day. A welcome benefit: more time to play. Alongside the taiko, there is an extensive collection of narimono instruments, including chappa, atarigane, singing bowls, crotales and Chau gongs.

Everything taken care of.
You just bring yourself.
Flights to Valencia are not included.

You stay off-grid, right in the middle of nature. You sleep on a good bed and there are excellent sanitary facilities. We take care of bed linen and towels. There is a kitchen inside and outside, where we can cook and eat together. After drumming, the pool, a hammock, a sun lounger or one of the terraces is waiting. Not having to do anything for a while is part of it too.
